GOAL 4
GOOD EDUCATION
• During year 2023, 64 students were included in the 3 months National
Work Internship Program in the profiles of finance, law, and IT.
• The bank is part of the Erasmus Programe with ‘’ Université de Poitiers’’,
France by supporting 3 internships per year for selected students.
• BKT and THE Embassy of the United Kingdom in Albania signed a
cooperation agreement for the co-sponsorship of the “Chevening”
scholarship program. Through this partnership, BKT aims to encourage
young Albanians from all over the world, who demonstrate the greatest
potential to become leaders, decision makers, opinion makers, to
attend prestigious academic programs in the UK, to gain international
knowledge, experience and then return and contribute to Albania’s
progress.
• It was supported the annual activity “Young Innovators” organized by
the Faculty of Economics, within the Innovation course. 120 innovative
ideas participated in the competition and the winner was the group
18 “Earthy Guide”, which created a service that connect people with
nature and healthy living.
• In the context of the 120th anniversary of the opening of the first school
in the Albanian language for the northern area in the village of Iballë,
BKT supported its renovation. The school is also one of the first four
schools in the Albanian language in the whole country.
• In cooperation with Albanian Association Bank, BKT supported one
of the activities organized within the framework of “Money Week
2023”, the best essay “Climate changes - why they are important for
the financial sector in Albania”. The three winning students received a
tablet as a gift and were also offered a 3-month internship at BKT.
• There were supported projects aimed at increasing access to computer
literacy by donating or purchasing computer set and other equipments
for the IT laboratories in schools in Tirana, Korça, Librazhdi, Peqin and
Pogradec.
GOAL 5
GENDER EQUALITY
• BKT is a signatory of the Women Empowerment Principles (WEP),
increasingly recognizing the contribution of women and girls, who are
leading the cause of important as well as to build a more sustainable
future for all. The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set
of Principles offering guidance to business on how to promote gender
equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and
community. Established by UN Global Compact and UN Women, the
WEPs are informed by international labor and human rights standards
and grounded in the recognition that businesses have a stake in, and a
responsibility for, gender equality and women’s empowerment. WEPs are
a primary vehicle for corporate delivery on gender equality dimensions
of the 2030 agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development
Goals. These include equal pay for work of equal value, gender-responsive
supply chain practices and zero tolerance against sexual harassment in
the workplace.
• The Bank joined the initiative of UN Women in Albania “16 days of activism
against gender-based violence against women and girls’’ by sharing
awareness messages on its social networks as well as the ATM network.
A meeting was organised with Vodafone Albania Foundation where it was
discussed about the Bright Sky application, a free application that provides
support and information to anyone who may be in a abusive relationships
or for those people who know someone in such a relationship.
